What It Costs to Build a Website

It ranges a lot depending on what you need. The most basic sites start at $499, and a build can climb past $2,000 as you add pages, tools, and custom features.

Compare Website Packages

Picking a tier comes down to what you actually need. How many pages, whether you want to edit the site yourself, whether your team needs their own access, and whether the site has to connect to other systems like booking, payments, or accounts. Answer those and you'll know which one you're looking at.

What determines the price of a small business website?

Four things move a project up or down between Basic, Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise, and they all come down to size and tools, not effort. The build itself never changes. Whatever tier you land on, the quality of the work is the same.

  • 01

    How big the site is

A focused site that gets a service business found and called costs less than a large site with a separate page for every service and service area. More pages means more design, more writing, and more to rank — so the bigger the site, the higher the price.

  • 02

What the site needs to do

A site built to earn calls and form fills is the starting price. The moment it has to do things — online booking, taking payments, customer logins, or a content system you update yourself — that's custom work, and it's why those features are scoped on top instead of baked into a tier.

  • 03

    Custom build vs. template

Every site we build is custom, so it loads fast and ranks better than the templates most cheap builders hand out. You're not paying for a theme with your logo dropped in — you're paying for a site built around your business, which is where the real value sits.

  • 04

How much SEO you want at launch

The technical SEO that helps Google find you is built into every package. Going further — content for the searches your customers make, extra location pages, ongoing growth — adds to the scope. You launch ready to rank, then grow from there when you want to.

We're not charging $10,000 just because that's how it's always been done.

2010

Agencies charged $5,000-$25,000

Everything was built from scratch. That's what custom work cost.

2015

Prices held at $2,500-$20,000

Page builders emerged, but agencies kept charging the same.

2020

Modern frameworks arrived

Better building tools arrived, but agencies kept charging like it was still 2010.

2024

Development tools transformed

Build times dropped. Quality went up. The math changed.

2026

Premium sites for $499-$5,000

Same craftsmanship. We just don't charge for outdated processes.

This isn't a budget product. It's what a great website costs when you're not being gouged.

Frequently Asked Questions

A few things people usually ask me before we start.

Do I actually own this thing, or am I just renting it from you?

You own it. The site is yours the same way your truck is yours. I build it, I host it, and I take care of it, but you are never locked in and you are never paying me just to keep the lights on. If we ever part ways, you walk away with the whole thing, no fine print to read through first.

Once it's live, what am I paying you every month?

Hosting starts at $35 a month. That covers the hosting, the security certificate, regular backups, monitoring, any bug fixes, and a short status report each month so you know what's going on. If your needs grow and the work changes, we get together and have a conversation before any price change, so you always know the number ahead of time.

What if I want to move to a different developer down the road?

That's an easy one. I hand you a clean package with everything the new developer needs to pick it up and keep going: your files, your content, your access, all of it organized so nobody's guessing. And you stay hosted with me through the gap, so your site never goes dark while you're switching over. The new person takes the wheel when they're ready.

Are you just dropping my business into a template?

No. What your customers see is built around your actual services and the way people in your trade decide who to call. I plan the layout for that, not for a stock theme. A custom build also loads faster and ranks better than the cheap template-builder sites. Yours is built from the ground up.

How long until my site is live?

Depends on the size. A basic site runs about 7 to 10 days, a standard one 10 to 14, and an advanced one 14 to 21. A big enterprise build comes down to the scope and to how fast you get me your content and feedback. The quicker that comes back, the quicker you're live. I'll give you a real timeline once I see what we're building.

Can we add more to it after it goes live?

Yes, anytime. We can add pages, sections, tools, integrations, whatever you need as the business grows. Plenty of owners launch lean to get up and running, then add the bigger stuff once the leads start coming in. The site is built to grow right along with you. Just tell me when you're ready.

If that answers what you were wondering, reach out and we'll talk through what your site would look like.
